Nhu-Mai Nguyen began studying health and wellness in 2007 when she started her degree in Nutrition at the University of Texas at Austin. In 2009, she discovered Mindfulness after attending a mindfulness retreat in the Thich Nhat Hanh tradition at Deer Park Monastery, Escondido, CA. Ever since then, she has been offering mindfulness instruction through group facilitation and community building activities. She brings mindfulness into her massage practice, graduating from the Lauterstein-Conway school of massage in 2013, and she integrates relaxation, deep tissue, and myofascial techniques in order to facilitate awareness of the body and mind.
“Massage isn’t about getting rid of tension in our body. It’s about learning to understand and embrace our tension. Because if we cannot learn to embrace the simplest thing such as body tension, how can we possibly accept the more complicated, deeper aspects of our lives?”
Nhu-Mai is available for massage therapy and mindfulness instruction sessions.
